Everyone wants to find the best mattress that would fulfill every expectation. But what to do if your budget is limited? From my personal experience, I can say that if the mattress is expensive, it doesn’t mean that it’s better than less pricey alternatives.

In this review, I will introduce you with the best cheap mattresses, their features, and of course pricing options. I will prove to you that the quality mattress doesn’t have to cost a fortune.

Here’s the best cheap mattress list I will go through today:

Best Cheap Mattress - Full List

In this list, you will find everything about the best cheap mattresses. As I already said, I will prove that cheap doesn’t mean poor.

1. Nectar - Best Cheap Mattress

Ranks #1 out of 7 Mattresses

Nectar is the high-density memory foam mattress, which offers an amazing value for money. Nectar is not only the best inexpensive mattress, but it’s also one of the best options overall!

So, why does the Nectar deserve to be called the best cheap mattress? Unlike the Nectar’s competitors, it’s designed from high-quality materials for the lowest possible pricing.

After going through Nectar mattress reviews, I realized that Nectar offers all features that are important for sleepers. First of all, it should serve you for at least seven years. Also, this mattress provides you with amazing conforming and pressure relief in problematic areas, so it’s great for everyone who suffers from neck, shoulders or back pain.

Moving further, Nectar perfectly absorbs the motion, so you won’t feel your partner moving. It means that you will experience a perfect nighttime sleep without any interruptions, even the study proved that nighttime movement has an impact on your sleep[1]

And, since it’s the memory foam mattress it makes zero sound. Also, the majority of the memory foam mattresses tend to sleep hot, however, since the Nectar mattress has a lyocell cover and uses gel memory foam, it gives much more breathability.

What is Nectar Mattress Pricing?

Let’s move this best budget mattress review to the Nectar price. Here are the full Nectar mattress pricing options:

Note that the provided prices are the original ones, but Nectar offers amazing discounts quite often.

2. Puffy - Stress Relief

Ranks #2 out of 7 Mattresses

Puffy offers two different mattress options, the traditional Puffy, and Puffy Lux. But since you’re looking for the best budget mattress, I will only present you with the traditional Puffy.

The Puffy mattress offers one firmness option, which is the medium (5) and should be great for the majority of sleepers. This mattress is a better option for lighter and medium weight sleepers as the heavier sleepers need a mattress with more support.

This may not be the cheapest mattress, but it offers a perfect motion and sound isolation, which are the qualities that are extremely important for couples. Also, it gives that feeling of sleeping in the mattress, providing you with a perfect pain and pressure relief.

However, a few aspects are missing. To begin with, similar to other memory foam mattresses it lacks bounciness, which is so needed for sexual activities. Secondly, it’s quite hot to sleep in and lacks some edge support.

What is the Puffy Mattress Pricing?

Let's move to the Puffy price. Take a look into the Puffy mattress pricing options:

As you can see, it's possible to get a high-quality queen size mattress for less than 1000 bucks.

3. Layla - Two in One

Ranks #3 out of 7 Mattresses

Layla is a memory foam mattress, which provides you with two firmness options in one mattress. It’s a flippable mattress, which means that almost every sleeper will get the right firmness option and won’t have to worry about ordering the wrong mattress.

So why can the Layla be called the best cheap mattress? First of all, if you decide to buy Layla, it will serve you at least 6 to 8 years. It offers perfect motion isolation, which will result in fewer disruptions at night.

What’s more, Layla adapts to your body curves just right to provide you with pain and pressure relief. Also, due to the copper-infused foam, Layla can also improve your circulation. And, if you don’t like to sleep hot, there’s no need to worry. Compared to other memory foam mattresses, Layla tends to trap minimal heat, which is why it manages to maintain neutral temperature. Since the temperature and sleep quality[2] are widely related, this aspect is a must in every respectable mattress.

Of course, there are a few drawbacks you should know about. The most common problems with memory foam mattresses are the lack of bounciness and edge support. These features can be crucial to some couples since the lack of bounciness can influence your sexual activities negatively and the poor edge support can result in rolling out of the bed when laying on side of it.

Despite some flaws, it’s still one of the best inexpensive mattresses you can find in the market.

What is the Layla Mattress Pricing?

Let's move to the Layla price. Take a look into the Layla mattress pricing options:

When the best providers in the market offer such low pricing, why would you want to buy something else?

4. Helix - 6 Mattress Designs

Ranks #4 out of 7 Mattresses

Helix offers six mattress designs in total, which are for everyone’s needs. Each mattress can come in ‘LUXE’ design, which is created with a pillow-top layer for additional padding and gel memory foam comfort layer. However, these mattresses can be too expensive and we’re looking for the best cheap mattresses. Consequently, we won’t go through the ‘LUXE’ mattresses.

Helix comes in a variety of firmness options, starting from the softest (3.5), finishing with the firm (7) ones. So, no matter what your sleeping position is or how much you weigh, there’s a possibility to find an option to everyone.

I have to say that Helix surprised me. As I was going through Helix reviews, there were no significant flaws that could be distinguished. So I will go through all Helix mattresses in general.

So what are those features worthy of calling this mattress one of the best affordable mattresses in the market? First of all, it will serve you more than the average hybrid mattress - at least 7 years.

What is more, it provides you with good motion and sound isolation, which is quite rare for hybrid mattresses. While sleeping on Helix you might feel very minimal movement and it is relatively quiet compared to other innerspring mattresses with non-pocketed coils.

Also, every model is quite bouncy and responsive to pressure, so, you and your partner will be able to enjoy the quality time. Furthermore, one of the strongest sides of Helix mattresses is the temperature neutrality. During the hot days, you won’t have to worry about your mattress trapping the heat. The Helix will maintain a consistent coolness during the night, which is one of the main reasons this bed is often named the best affordable mattress.

But that’s not it, the Helix also provides you with the perfect edge support, which will keep you safe from rolling out f the bed. And if you have problems with back or neck pain, this mattress is the great option, it conforms closely to your body giving you pain and pressure relief.

What is the Helix Mattress Pricing?

Let's move to the Helix price. Take a look into the Helix mattresses pricing options:

As you can seem Helix provides much lower prices than other hybrid mattresses.

5. Leesa - Perfect Conforming

Ranks #5 out of 7 Mattresses

Leesa offers two mattress options, including traditional Leesa and Leesa hybrid. However, since we’re looking for the best cheap mattress, I will go through Leesa only.

Leesa is a mixed-foam mattress, which is designed from polyfoam, memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. It offers one level of firmness, which is medium firm (6.5). Therefore, this mattress is perfect for heavier people and for those who love to have more support.

Leesa may not be the cheapest mattress, however, every aspect in Leesa mattress is performing quite great. It only has a few flaws, which are common to every memory foam mattress - the lack of bounciness and edge support.

Otherwise, Leesa can be firmly called the best inexpensive mattress since it has other amazing qualities. First of all, it will serve you at least seven years. It will provide you with perfect motion and sound isolation together with perfect conforming in problematic areas. So, every morning you will feel rested and relaxed.

What is the Leesa Mattress Pricing?

Let's move to the Leesa price. Here the Leesa mattress pricing, note that the hybrid version is almost twice as much:

So, if you decide that Leesa is exactly what you need, you can get it for an affordable price.

6. Brooklyn Bedding's Signature - A Sturdy Hybrid

Ranks #6 out of 7 Mattresses

The Brooklyn Bedding Signature comes up from time to time in our various listings. The mattress is truly a surprising one - it's very affordable, yet can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the industry giants.

The Signature model is a hybrid mattress - it's made of a mixture of different types of foam and supported by metal coils down at the bottom. Being a hybrid, this allows BB's Signature to encompass features from both the innerspring and all-foam mattress worlds.

The bed is very sturdy, isolates motion well, the springs don't squeak, and you will even enjoy a pretty cool night's sleep. While it doesn't perform wonders on any point, Signature serves as a quite-above-average hybrid for anyone who can't decide on the mattress they should buy.

What is the Price of Brooklyn Bedding's Signature Model?

Here are the prices that make Brooklyn Bedding's Signature a good contender for the spot of the best cheap mattress:

While Brooklyn Signature is not the cheapest option, it's still one of the low price high-quality beds.

7. Nest Bedding's Alexander - A Traditional Foam Mattress

Ranks #7 out of 7 Mattresses

The Nest Bedding's Alexander model has many things in common with Brooklyn Bedding's Signature, with the main difference being that Alexander is actually an all-foam bed.

Being a strictly foam-based bed has its advantages and shortcomings. Alexander should be on your list if you suffer from back pain problems, or simply want a good night's sleep without feeling broken the following morning. Also, as far as the best cheap mattresses are concerned, Alexander is very silent.

Disadvantage-wise, Nest Bedding's Alexander has a few, but they are all pretty common when talking about foam beds. First of all, some customers do report on the fact that the mattress sleeps rather hot, and isn't really bouncy.

On top of that, Alexander might not be the most durable mattress in the world. While there aren't many concerns about it wearing down, some customers did express their surprise of just how fast some signs of age have started showing.

What is the Nest Bedding's Alexander Model Price?

The pricing options for Alexander are:

Since this is the last provider in the best cheap mattress list, it offers the highest pricing, which is still lower than average.

Conclusions

I told you in the very beginning that I will prove to you that quality mattress doesn’t necessarily cost a fortune and I believe you can now see that it’s true. Hopefully, this article helped you to find the best cheap mattress, which would fulfill your expectations.

If my recommendations matter to you, in this situation I would always go with Nectar mattress, which is not only the best inexpensive mattress but also one of the best providers in the market!

Here you can see how Nectar compares to other inexpensive mattresses:

Other Less Favoured Mattresses in This Category

Here are other mattresses related to the category but not as favoured by MyBestMattress readers yet. In my personal opinion, today there are much more optimal mattresses in the list with the higher rating that I'd recommend for the same price range or less.

Casper - Decent Quality

Even though the Casper offers a variety of different options, the Casper essential is the best cheap mattress for those who have a limited budget. However, since the mattress has only been in the market for three years, it can be difficult to evaluate whether it’s durable or not.

Casper Essential is the memory foam mattress, which offers only one firmness option - firm (7.5). Since it’s more on the firm side, it may not be that good for very light sleepers.

So why is this mattress in the best cheap mattress list? First of all, Casper offers amazing motion and sound isolation, which mean it’s amazing for couples as you won’t feel your partner moving during the night.

What is more, since the mattress is quite firm, it will give you little conforming and not too much sinking, which means you will feel like sleeping more on the mattress rather than in the mattress. So, you will be sleeping quite cool compared to other memory foam mattresses.

Of course, there are some drawbacks that even the best affordable mattress has. Because it’s the memory foam mattress and more on the firmer side, couples say that it’s not that bouncy, which is not the best feature for sex.

What is Casper Essential Pricing?

Let’s move this best budget mattress review to the Casper price. Here are the full Casper Essential pricing options:

  • Twin - $395 USD
  • Twin XL - $495 USD
  • Full - $645 USD
  • Queen - $795 USD
  • King - $995 USD
  • CAL King - $995 USD

As you can see, it’s quite inexpensive, if you can afford a more expensive mattress you can check the Casper. The price differs quite unnoticeably but you do get a better product.

Tuft & Needle - Fair Pricing

Tuft & Needle is known for the combination of inexpensive pricing and high-quality materials. The mattress is designed from the polyfoam comfort layer infused with graphite and gel, transitional polyfoam layer and support layer from high-density polyfoam.

Let’s move to the reasons why Tuft & Needle is a good cheap mattress. To begin with, even if it offers only one firmness option, which is a medium firm (6.5), according to the reviews, it’s perfect for almost every sleeper, except for lightweight side and stomach sleepers who evaluated the Tuft & Needle mattress as ‘good’.

Furthermore, this mattress offers amazing motion isolation, which can absorb your partner’s movement to a significant extent. Also, it’s completely silent, so you won’t hear any squeaks or creaks.

Other reasons why the Tuft & Needle mattress deserve to be called best cheap mattress cover temperature neutrality and adaptability to your body. The very small part of sleepers claimed that they were feeling too hot, others were pleased with the coolness.

Also, it’s amazing that T&N mattress offers an amazing conforming. It provides good pressure and pain relief, which will be beneficial for those who suffer from back or neck pain.

What is the Tuft & Needle Mattress Pricing?

Let's move to the Tuft & Needle price. Take a look into the Tuft & Needle mattress pricing options:

  • Twin - $350 USD
  • Twin XL - $395 USD
  • Full - $495 USD
  • Queen - $595 USD
  • King - $750 USD
  • Cal King - $750

As you can see Tuft & Needle is the cheapest mattress, which offers an extremely high value for money.

FAQ

What kind of mattresses are the cheapest ones?

The price not only depends on the type of a mattress, but also on the quality of the materials used and other important factors. You can find cheap mattresses for about $200 but they may not fulfil your needs. Since you’re looking for the best cheap mattress, then I would recommend considering foam mattresses, which are the least expensive. The average pricing of a foam mattress is about $900 dollars, innerspring $950. These are the least expensive mattresses.

Can you find a high-quality mattress that doesn’t cost a fortune?

Yes, you can find a high-quality mattress for a low price. It doesn’t necessarily mean that more expensive is better. The price mostly depends on the type of mattress you’re choosing. If you want the cheapest alternative, then the best option would be a memory foam or innerspring mattress. You can get a high-quality foam mattress for less than $700 or innerspring mattress for less than $750. Latex, hybrid mattresses and airbeds are usually more expensive. You can find latex bed for less than $1,500, hybrid for $1,200 and airbed for $1,500. Therefore, if you’re looking for a high-quality inexpensive mattress, you should choose memory foam or innerspring mattress.

How to choose the best mattress for me?

When choosing the best mattress for yourself, there are a few important factors that you should consider. First of all, what type of mattress do you need? The most traditional mattresses are memory foam, innerspring and latex, but there are other options, too. Secondly, think about how much you can spend on a mattress, but remember it doesn’t mean that the mattress is better if it’s more expensive. Furthermore, pick a size and firmness depending on your preferences. Finally, think about your sleeping position, it will also influence your decision.

How much does a good mattress cost?

Mattress price usually varies depending on a few factors, such as mattress type, size, height, quality of the material and durability. Today the price of a mattress can vary from $150 to $7000. However, you can find a good mattress for under $1000. The average pricing of a foam mattress is about $900 dollars, innerspring $950. These are the least expensive mattresses. However, if you can afford more expensive ones, you can consider a hybrid mattress for about $1,650, latex - about $2,000.

What size mattress should I get?

Most mattress providers offer 6 standard sizes, including Twin, Twin XL, Full/Double, Queen, King, and California King. A Twin mattress is great for children or young adults who live alone. A Twin XL mattress is great for children or single adults but not comfortable for couples. A Full/Double bed is excellent for children and couples, however, it won’t work if both people like to have more space. Queen mattresses work great for adults who like to sleep near each other. A King bed is amazing for couples who like to have some space or sleep with a pet. Finally, a California King mattress is amazing for tall people and couples who like to have space or sleep with their pets.

How long does a mattress last? When should you replace your mattress?

Mattress durability depends on the materials that were used to make it. The average lifespan of a mattress varies from 7 to 10 years. However, good quality mattresses can last even longer. It is recommended to replace your mattress every 8 years, but if it still feels great, there’s no need. If you want to buy a mattress that lasts longer than average, you should consider latex or memory foam mattresses. These can serve up to 10 or 15 years while Innerspring mattresses usually last about 7-8 years.
