While warm and cozy bed sheets might be the ideal option for most people during the wintertime, you’re definitely going to need the best cooling sheets during summer. That said, depending on the temperature of the room that you sleep in, some people do get hot in the winter, too!

In any way that you look at it, the best sheets for hot sleepers are always going to be beneficial, in one way or another. Today, I’ll tell you a bit about why you should care about the breathability of your sheets, and then we’ll move on to talking about the actual providers themselves.

Our list will look a little something like this:

Cooling Sheets: Why are They Important, in the First Place?

Mattress cooling sheets are some of the most popular sheet products around - that’s for certain. That being said, why would anyone need the “best sheets for hot sleepers”, in the first place?

Well, the most obvious reason is that you sleep hot, and want to improve the quality of your sleep by trying to keep your bed as cool and breathable as possible. Research suggests that people need at least 9 hours of sleep per day in order to feel well and remain healthy[1] - these hours can really be cut short if you have to constantly wake up from heatwaves.

That being said, as far as best sheets for night sweats are concerned, many people actually purchase them in order to stop the problem before it even begins. While you might currently possess the coolest mattress (and I’m not talking about “street cred”, mind you) on the market, and the most breathable pillow, hot sheets can ruin all of that in a night’s time.

Also, some people look for the best sheets for summer. Cooling sheets can be your best friends during the hot times of the year, and they are easy to change when winter comes.

Now that we’ve briefly mentioned the main reasons why anyone would want to find the best cooling sheets out there, there’s still one important thing to note - the best cooling sheets have to be good in other areas, too. That might seem like a pretty self-explanatory thing to say, but you would be surprised how many products offer little more than breathability.

The best sheets for night sweats should be durable, hypoallergenic, easy to take care of and they shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. Let’s break that down, shall we?

No matter what sleep products we’re talking about, durability is always going to be at the top of the list when it comes to picking out the right items for yourself. The reasoning behind this is pretty obvious - if your cooling sheets aren’t at all durable, it doesn’t matter how “cool” they actually sleep - they’ll break apart soon enough, and you’ll have to find a new set, altogether.

The most durable mattress cooling sheets are going to be ones that are made from linen, silk and cotton. This doesn’t imply that other materials, such as tencel or bamboo rayon, aren’t at all durable - as far as customer favorites go, however, the above-mentioned three picks then to come up more often than the rest.

Have you ever had an allergic reaction to your mattress, pillow or sheets? If not, it might sound like a pretty strange concept - I assure you, though, that it’s a pretty real issue that people deal with.

The most common culprit that tends to cause allergic reactions is foam. While this might not be as relevant when it comes to cooling sheets, if you sleep on a foam mattress, and can’t seem to get rid of that pesky running nose, it might be time to check your bed out.

Cooling sheets: a bed with pillows in a lit room.

That said, when it comes to the best sheets for hot sleepers, it’s actually pretty easy to avoid most possible allergic reactions. All you need to do is purchase yourself a “hypoallergenic” product - a sheet set that’s made from organic, eco-friendly materials. Organic mattress cooling sheets are going to be least likely to cause an allergic reaction.

Ease of Cleaning

While this does apply to other types of sheets, too, while you’re looking for the best cooling sheets on the market, you should always pay attention to their cleaning processes.

Now, this isn’t an issue that you’d need to worry about too much with most sheet brands out there. That said, every once in a while, you might come across some materials that can’t just be “thrown into the washing machine and left” - some sheets do require spot-cleaning.

Now, is that really an issue? For most - no. However, if you’re someone who lives on a tight schedule, and just want to be able to throw everything into the washing machine and be done with it, then perhaps the best cooling sheets that require spot-cleaning aren’t the best option for you.

Naturally, the pricing of the best sheets for summer is likely going to be the most controversial topic out of them all.

Usually, people try to look for a compromise between price and quality. That said, it’s not always easy to find these types of products - more often than not, you’ll encounter cooling sheets that are either really expensive, yet top-tier, or ones that are super-cheap, but the quality is less-than-questionable.

Either way, it’s worth mentioning that a one-time investment for a high-end sheet set is always going to be better than buying cheap sheet knock-offs every one or two months.

Now, with all of that said and done, let’s move on and talk about 5 contenders for the spot of the best cooling sheets of the current year.

What are the top 3 things that contribute to the quality of our sleep?

It would be our stress levels, our sleep hygiene, and having a balanced body. When it comes to sleep hygiene, you want an environment that's conducive to sleep. That means having a comfortable mattress, a blacked-out environment, etc. I would recommend covering your windows with blackout curtains or wearing a sleep mask, also covering any extraneous lights. It's also important that your environment is cool to allow your body temperature to lower by 2 degrees, which is required to fall asleep. The ideal sleep temperature is somewhere between 62 and 68 degrees Fahrenheit.

1. Brooklinen Classic Sheets - Durable and Cool

Ranks #1 out of 5 Mattresses

Without a single doubt, Brooklinen is one of the most notable and popular names in the field of mattress sheets, in general. Since it’s also on this “cooling sheets” article, though, you can probably guess what its main, customer-favorite feature is.

The Brooklinen Classic sheet set is made out of cotton. As you may or might not know, cotton is one of the best materials, as far as mattress and pillow sheet (cover) breathability is concerned. Cotton is very breathable and doesn’t trap heat, which, in turn, almost guarantees that you’ll have a cool night’s worth of sleep.

Another significant feature that cotton brings to the table (at least according to customer Brooklinen reviews, that is) is durability. The Brooklinen sheets are very durable, and should hold up pretty well.

What is the Price of the Brooklinen Cassic Sheet Set?

The Brooklinen Classic cooling sheets are going to cost you anywhere from $129 up to $169, depending on the size of your mattress. The set also comes with a 365-night trial - that’s quite a bit longer than your average sheet set! It just goes to show that Brooklinen does trust the quality of their products, whether you’re looking for the best sheets for summer, or the best mattress and pillow sheets, overall.

2. PeachSkinSheets - SMART Fabric Technology

Ranks #2 out of 5 Mattresses

If you want a set of cooling sheets that wouldn’t only promote breathability, but would also be easy to take care of and moisture-wicking, PeachSkinSheets has got you covered.

The brand utilizes what is known as a “SMARTfabric - it’s a type of material that is very breathable and cool to sleep on, yet also makes the process of cleaning the sheets really simple and straightforward.

Why? Well, the fabric is resistant not only to moisture, but also various kinds of stains - the “ease of cleaning” comes from the fact that there’s usually very little to clean, in the first place.

What is the Price of the PeachSkinSheets Set?

The PeachSkinSheets sheet set costs $159,95. Also, one of the more notable features of these sheets is that they come in a HUGE variety of different color options - everyone should be able to find a set of PeachSkinSheets cooling sheets that will suit them best.

3. Brooklyn Bedding Sheets - Soft Alternative

Ranks #3 out of 5 Mattresses

Soft cooling sheets are the one thing that you’ll hardly ever come across - well, at least as far as the best sheet providers are concerned. That said, Brooklyn Bedding does seem to offer some very soft and comfortable sheets that are also breathable and cool to sleep on.

Now, do remember that your best bet would be to combine these soft sheets together with a firmer mattress. Don’t make your entire bed a cloud of feathers and soft foam! You see, firmer mattresses are going to be better for your lower back - back pain can lead to sleep deprivation, which can then cause some serious issues, in the long run[2].

If you do, however, combine the Brooklyn Bedding cooling sheets with a firmer mattress alternative, you’ll end up with a pretty cool combination of sleep-oriented items.

What is the Price of the Brooklyn Bedding Sheet Set?

While it might be difficult to believe, the Brooklyn Bedding sheet set will cost you anywhere from $39 up to $59, depending on the size of your bed.

In addition to being extremely affordable, you can also expect a 120-night sleep trial with your purchase.

4. Casper Linen Sheets - Expensive, But Breathable

Ranks #4 out of 5 Mattresses

Casper - a very well-known name in the mattress world - offers customers premium-quality linen sheets.

Linen is one of the more durable and breathable materials out there, at least as far as the best sheets for night sweats are concerned. Casper’s sheets are considered to be “high-end” products by the majority of the brand’s customers - people note that the products should serve you for a pretty long time to come, and should provide top-tier breathability features.

What is the Price of the Casper Linen Sheet Set?

While linen might be a premium-quality material, it does show on the price tag, too. A Queen-sized Casper linen mattress and pillow sheet set will cost you around $250, at least as of writing this article.

5. Cosy House Sheets - Hypoallergenic and Very Affordable

Ranks #5 out of 5 Mattresses

The Cosy House sheet set is made out of bamboo rayon - this should already tell you a few things about its features.

First of all, Cosy House’s sheets are going to be exceptionally breathable and cool - that’s not really surprising, given that the product is on this article about cooling sheets, right?

To add to that, however, the brand’s sheet products are also hypoallergenic. This means that if you’re sensitive to some different types of materials within most other sheets, mattresses or pillows, Cosy House should have you covered.

What is the Price of the Cosy House Sheet Set?

The four-piece, super-soft bamboo sheet set will cost you anywhere from $169,95 up to $174,95. The set also comes in a few different colors to pick from, and you can choose the option to add two more pillowcases, for a price of $24,95.

After reading this article, you should have developed a pretty good idea of what to look for in your sheet products, and why cooling and breathability are important, in the first place.

Do note, though, that while these features are essential, they aren’t the only ones deciding whether or not your sheet set is going to be “good”. There are many more things to keep in mind - do check out our list of the best sheets, overall, if you want to learn more.

Also, even the best cooling sheet set in the world is going to help you if your mattress sleeps crazy hot. If this is an issue that you are currently dealing with, there are a few easy “ways out” - the best cooling mattress is just one of them.

Why are cooling sheets important?

Cooling bed sheets, just like a cool mattress, are going to improve your sleep comfort and reduce the risk of you waking up from random heatwaves in the middle of the night.

Are cooling sheets really going to work at keeping a person cool at night?

Yes and no - cooling sheets truly do work at providing the sleeper with optimal comfort and breathability features, but you'll also need the best cooling mattress to help you out, too.

How to choose the best mattress for me?

When choosing the best mattress for yourself, there are a few important factors that you should consider. First of all, what type of mattress do you need? The most traditional mattresses are memory foam, innerspring and latex, but there are other options, too. Secondly, think about how much you can spend on a mattress, but remember it doesn’t mean that the mattress is better if it’s more expensive. Furthermore, pick a size and firmness depending on your preferences. Finally, think about your sleeping position, it will also influence your decision.

How much does a good mattress cost?

Mattress price usually varies depending on a few factors, such as mattress type, size, height, quality of the material and durability. Today the price of a mattress can vary from $150 to $7000. However, you can find a good mattress for under $1000. The average pricing of a foam mattress is about $900 dollars, innerspring $950. These are the least expensive mattresses. However, if you can afford more expensive ones, you can consider a hybrid mattress for about $1,650, latex - about $2,000.

What size mattress should I get?

Most mattress providers offer 6 standard sizes, including Twin, Twin XL, Full/Double, Queen, King, and California King. A Twin mattress is great for children or young adults who live alone. A Twin XL mattress is great for children or single adults but not comfortable for couples. A Full/Double bed is excellent for children and couples, however, it won’t work if both people like to have more space. Queen mattresses work great for adults who like to sleep near each other. A King bed is amazing for couples who like to have some space or sleep with a pet. Finally, a California King mattress is amazing for tall people and couples who like to have space or sleep with their pets.

How long does a mattress last? When should you replace your mattress?

Mattress durability depends on the materials that were used to make it. The average lifespan of a mattress varies from 7 to 10 years. However, good quality mattresses can last even longer. It is recommended to replace your mattress every 8 years, but if it still feels great, there’s no need. If you want to buy a mattress that lasts longer than average, you should consider latex or memory foam mattresses. These can serve up to 10 or 15 years while Innerspring mattresses usually last about 7-8 years.
