Looking for a decent innerspring mattress? Has foam gotten completely up your nerves, and now you just want that old school, bouncy feel? Well, if you are looking for the best innerspring mattress reviews, this list will provide you with some great options!

Note that we’ll be looking at both completely innerspring products, and those who have springs inside of their base, yet have layers of some other materials, too (in short, hybrid mattresses). I’ll tell you at the very beginning of each mattress provider’s review whether they offer an innerspring, or a hybrid product.

The list that we’ll be referencing looks like this:

Why Look for the Best Innerspring Mattress?

Now, before we get into the meat of things, there’s one simple question I should probably address - why would anyone look for the best innerspring mattress reviews, in the first place?

To tell you the truth, there are a few good reasons for people looking for a coil-based bed.

First of all, these mattresses tend to be much more responsive than their foam or latex counterparts. Responsiveness is something that’s important for people who don’t only like (want) to sleep on the mattress, but to also improve their sex life. With all-foam products, there’s a lot of “sinkage” involved - that’s not really fun when you’re engaged in an active, thrusting motion-based activity (if you know what I mean).

Saatva mattress review: why Saatva's good for relieving back pain.

Another big reason for people preferring spring bed over foam or latex ones is temperature neutrality. The best innerspring mattress will be much cooler than a foam one - no ones like middle-of-the-night heat surges!

Finally, innerspring mattresses are considered to be great for people who suffer from back pain problems. This is because these mattresses tend to be firmer than all-foam or latex ones, and thus offer better spine, neck and shoulder support. Combined with memory foam (in a hybrid mattress, for example), this creates the perfect product for back pain elimination.

So then, now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s move on and talk about the actual “best innerspring mattress” list.

1. Saatva - Best Innerspring Mattress

Ranks #1 out of 7 Mattresses

First up on our list, we have Saatva - a very well-known innerspring mattress provider, considered by many to be the best innerspring mattress in the current market.

Saatva comes equipped with metal coils at the base, which are then also complemented with a few layers of memory foam on top. This combination is very popular as far as spring mattresses go, since it yields a few notable benefits for the customer.

First of all, the Classic model of the Saatva mattress (it’s the one that we’ll be talking about in this list) has some exceptional temperature neutrality features. Since Saatva features some layers of memory foam, you would come to think that the mattress would sleep rather hot. However, the company has managed to neutralize this thanks to the innerspring design - the base allows the bed to breathe, so you won’t feel any discomfort throughout the night, at least as far as heat is concerned.

Another big feature that Saatva is famous for among the “best innerspring mattress” reviews is edge support.

Edge support is especially important when it comes to the best innerspring mattress for side sleepers - these people tend to roll around the bed quite a bit during the night, and face the risk of falling out of it if the edges are prone to sinking. Also, if you’re one to keep some heavier items on the bed, sturdy edges will prevent them from falling, too. And Saatva does, indeed, have good edge support.

Since I’ve mentioned side sleepers, another big reason for why Saatva is as well-known as it is would be the fact that it’s a great bed for both side and back sleepers alike. Stomach sleepers might find this mattress to be a little bit too uncomfortable from the “body conforming” side of things, but if you’re a heavier person, then Saatva should suit you pretty well even in that type of a scenario.

What is the Saatva mattress price?

Here are the pricing options for the Saatva Classic model:

The best innerspring mattresses should also be affordable - and Saatva’s got this down, too! While the price tags for the King and Cal King can be a little bit intimidating for some, considering the reputation that this mattress provider has, the overall pricing options are pretty great!

2. New Purple - Good Temperature Control

Ranks #2 out of 7 Mattresses

The company behind the Purple mattress had created a foam product, but in this “Best Innerspring Mattress” list, we’ll be focusing on their new-and-improved New Purple bed.

The New Purple is a hybrid mattress. Truth be told, it’s actually one of the more interesting hybrids in the current market! Purple has come up with some specific technology that allows their new product line to be at the very top of the industry temperature neutrality-wise.

Furthermore, the New Purple has managed to correct or adjust most of the major issues that the company’s flagship product had. It possesses great motion isolation, is comfortable and does not make any noises.

Not the cheapest, but also not the most expensive mattress around!

3. WinkBed - A Luxury Innerspring Mattress

Ranks #3 out of 7 Mattresses

If you’ve been searching for the best spring mattress for some time now, you are bound to have come across WinkBed.

WinkBed has managed to build a name of being one of the best innerspring mattresses in the entire mattress industry. The company behind the bed offers two main options for customers to choose from - the WinkBed and WinkBed PLUS. The PLUS model is a hybrid mattress, so we’ll be concentrating on the company’s flagship product.

So, what’s so special about WinkBed? Well, first of all, it is often seen as the “golden standard” by which all of the other best innerspring mattresses should be viewed.

Is that a stretch? Maybe. But the general sentiment is very on-point.

WinkBed comes equipped with some amazing noise and motion isolation - not only will you be able to sleep soundly at night without your partner unexpectedly waking you up by turning from side to side, but you also won’t hear a single creek coming from within the product.

That’s actually quite rare, especially with innerspring products - some of the best spring mattresses don’t even manage to avoid making noise when a person lays down on them!

Furthermore, WinkBed is bouncy (that means great for sex) and does not absorb your body heat - a cool mattress, in more ways than one!

What is the WinkBeds Mattress Price?

Here’s the pricing and sizing list for WinkBed:

While the mattress may be a bit pricier than, say, Saatva, it does seem to be worth the money - after all, you’re paying for one of the best spring mattresses out there!

4. Helix - Firm and Great Motion Isolation

Ranks #4 out of 7 Mattresses

Helix is an interesting hybrid mattress provider - the company offers customers 6 different main mattresses, and a few special offers, as well. Here, however, we’ll only be talking about one of the 6 models - the Helix Midnight.

According to their official website, Midnight is actually the most popular model that the company has in stock. And it’s rather obvious why - Midnight is one of the firmer mattresses that Helix offers, and yet, it has some great motion isolation. A rare occurrence, although not as surprising, seeing that this is a hybrid mattress, after all.

Because of the spring base, the mattress is cool and has some pretty good edge support - frankly, all of what you’d expect from a hybrid bed. Also, the Helix Midnight model is seen as a good contender for the spot of the best innerspring mattress for side sleeper and back sleepers - it’s not too firm, but also not too soft.

Honestly, Helix Midnight is one of the cheaper alternatives for anyone looking for the best innerspring mattresses.

5. Avocado - A Natural, Organic Mattress

Ranks #5 out of 7 Mattresses

Following Helix, let’s talk about Avocado - a company that produces and supplies 100% organic, natural mattresses.

Avocado Green is a hybrid mattress. Differing from its competition, it’s a latex hybrid with pocketed coil support. While latex isn’t always superior to, say, the industry standard memory foam, Avocado seems to have struck a sweet spot with their mattress design.

The Avocado Green model differs from the Vegan model mostly in that it uses wool, while the Vegan model uses cotton.

Benefit-wise, Avocado kind of “has it all figured out” - the mattress is superb when it comes to durability and “keeping it cool”, it usually has no initial odors whatsoever (even if it did - it’s an organic product, so you shouldn’t be irritated by it), and is one of the best innerspring mattresses for side sleepers (although it’s great for all types of sleepers, in general).

The only noticeable complaints that people seem to have with the Avocado Green model are that the mattress isn’t particularly responsive, and that it doesn’t isolate motion all that well. The responsiveness part is understandable - given its latex-based design, it’s no wonder that the Avocado bed isn’t going to be super-responsive and bouncy.

This is something that you should keep in mind if you’re looking for the best innerspring mattress mostly for the reason of improving your sex life.

As for motion isolation, well… Avocado is very firm. This makes it so that the bed isn't really able to isolate motion all that well. By no means is this a game-breaking type of a deal, but it can be noticeable, especially for people who are used to sleeping on softer surfaces.

What is the Avocado Mattress Price?

Here’s a list of Avocado’s pricing options:

Definitely not the cheapest product around, but don’t forget that you’ll be paying for a durable and reliable natural product that’s likely to last you for many years to come!

6. Brooklyn Bedding's Signature - A Hybrid With Good Motion Isolation

Ranks #6 out of 7 Mattresses

Brooklyn Beddings offer customers a few well-known models of beds to choose from, but in this list, we’ll be focusing on the Signature model.

Same as a few other mattresses on this “Best Innerspring Mattress” list, Signature is a hybrid - a foam mattress based with innerspring coils at the support layer. Furthermore, it’s not any type of hybrid, either - it’s a rather successful one at that!

With BB’s Signature model, you’ll receive good motion and noise isolation, as well as some pretty notable temperature control features. While the mattress is seemingly good for all types of sleepers, back and side ones are bound to appreciate their sleeping experience the most.

7. Alexander Signature Hybrid - Amazing for Couples

Ranks #7 out of 7 Mattresses

Alexander Signature Hybrid is a hybrid mattress, which is already obvious from the name. This mattress is offered by the Nest Bedding together with other great mattress options. However, since you’re looking for the best innerspring mattress, Alexander Signature Hybrid should be your number one choice.

So what does this mattress has to deserve to be called the best innerspring mattress? First, let’s take a look into the design. Alexander hybrid uses gel memory foam to maintain neutral body temperature throughout the night. It’s also designed from long-lasting foam, support foam, pocketed coil springs and of course, support foam

As I was going through the mattress owners reviews, I’ve noticed that each and every one of the measures showed great results, none of them very exceptionally bad. The strongest features, which are quite common to the best innerspring mattresses are bounciness and edge support. Both of them make this mattress one of the best options for couples.

Now let's move to other great qualities that the Alexander Signature Hybrid mattress has to offer. First of all, good durability - it should serve you at least seven years. What’s more, it absorbs your body heat, so you should sleep relatively cool in this mattress. And, if your partner is having a nightmare, you will be hearing only his or hers scream, other than that, you won’t be hearing or feeling anything as the mattress offers perfect motion and sound isolation

What is Alexander Signature Hybrid Mattress Price?

Now let's take a look into the Nest Bedding's product price. Here you can find the full pricing and size options for Alexander Signature Hybrid:

Plenty of options to choose from, and some decent pricing options indeed!

Conclusions

So, that’s the list of some of the best innerspring mattresses that are currently dominating the top charts of the mattress market.

With the list right in front of your eyes, the only question that remains to be answered is simple - which of these mattress providers should you choose?

Well, it’s a preference-based matter. Some people will enjoy a firmer mattress, while others might want a bed that’s better at isolating motion and being able to last for the longer-than-average period of time as far as durability is concerned.

If you’re not really sure on which mattress you should choose, or you’re trying to decide between two and having a hard time doing so, you can always check out the more thorough, in-depth reviews of these products on our site. They will help you develop a more wholesome opinion on the matter, and perhaps it’ll be easier to decide which of the beds would suit you best.

Other Less Favoured Mattresses in This Category

Here are other mattresses related to the category but not as favoured by MyBestMattress readers yet. In my personal opinion, today there are much more optimal mattresses in the list with the higher rating that I'd recommend for the same price range or less.

DreamCloud - A Durable Hybrid

DreamCloud is a unique entry on this “Best Innerspring Mattress” list, mostly because of the fact that it’s made out of 8 different layers of materials. Also, it is the first hybrid mattress on the list - DC mixes pocketed coils at the base with memory foam in the comfort layer.

The mattress itself is famous for being durable. Because of its unique design, customer reviews claim that DreamCloud will hold up for quite a bit longer than your average innerspring or hybrid mattress. Seein as this “average” is somewhere around 5 years or so, it’s already a good sign!

Another reason why people claim DreamCloud to be one of the best innerspring mattresses is that the bed has some pretty good motion isolation, all while being bouncy and responsive. This is a rare combination to encounter - yet again, a tribute to the 8-layer hybrid design!

While DreamCloud might not be the best innerspring mattress for side sleepers, it’s great for people who prefer to sleep on their back. This is mostly because of the fact that the mattress is very firm - perfect for anyone who’s having problems with spine alignment and back pain.

What is the DreamCloud mattress price?

Pricing-wise, DreamCloud offers customers these options:

  • Twin - $699 USD
  • Twin XL - $899 USD
  • Full - $1099 USD
  • Queen - $1299 USD
  • King - $1399 USD
  • Cal King - $1399 USD

As you can probably see for yourself, the prices of the different sizes if the bed are quite affordable! So, if you’re in the market for the best innerspring mattress out there, keep your eye out for DreamCloud as a good alternative!

FAQ

What are the benefits of an innerspring mattress?

There is a number of mattress providers that focus on innerspring mattresses. In general, Innerspring mattresses are known for being affordable and suitable for various sleepers, even those who are overweight or have back pain. What is more, since there are so many innerspring mattress brands, you get so many options to choose from, including multiple firmness, thickness and construction options.

What are the differences between innerspring and memory foam mattresses?

Firstly, innerspring and memory foam mattresses are made of different materials. Innerspring mattresses are often designed from metal coil springs and a comfort layer made of materials like fibers or foam. Memory foam mattresses are mostly made of polyurethane and some additional chemicals to give it more density and viscosity. Talking about comfort, innerspring mattresses are usually more focused on support while memory foam mattresses give you better contouring and that feeling of sinking in. If you’re wondering about your sex life, innerspring is a better option because they are more responsive to bounciness.

How to choose the best mattress for me?

When choosing the best mattress for yourself, there are a few important factors that you should consider. First of all, what type of mattress do you need? The most traditional mattresses are memory foam, innerspring and latex, but there are other options, too. Secondly, think about how much you can spend on a mattress, but remember it doesn’t mean that the mattress is better if it’s more expensive. Furthermore, pick a size and firmness depending on your preferences. Finally, think about your sleeping position, it will also influence your decision.

How much does a good mattress cost?

Mattress price usually varies depending on a few factors, such as mattress type, size, height, quality of the material and durability. Today the price of a mattress can vary from $150 to $7000. However, you can find a good mattress for under $1000. The average pricing of a foam mattress is about $900 dollars, innerspring $950. These are the least expensive mattresses. However, if you can afford more expensive ones, you can consider a hybrid mattress for about $1,650, latex - about $2,000.

What size mattress should I get?

Most mattress providers offer 6 standard sizes, including Twin, Twin XL, Full/Double, Queen, King, and California King. A Twin mattress is great for children or young adults who live alone. A Twin XL mattress is great for children or single adults but not comfortable for couples. A Full/Double bed is excellent for children and couples, however, it won’t work if both people like to have more space. Queen mattresses work great for adults who like to sleep near each other. A King bed is amazing for couples who like to have some space or sleep with a pet. Finally, a California King mattress is amazing for tall people and couples who like to have space or sleep with their pets.

How long does a mattress last? When should you replace your mattress?

Mattress durability depends on the materials that were used to make it. The average lifespan of a mattress varies from 7 to 10 years. However, good quality mattresses can last even longer. It is recommended to replace your mattress every 8 years, but if it still feels great, there’s no need. If you want to buy a mattress that lasts longer than average, you should consider latex or memory foam mattresses. These can serve up to 10 or 15 years while Innerspring mattresses usually last about 7-8 years.
