My Pillow was initially known as a pillow manufacturing company that was founded in Minnesota, the United States by Mike Lindell, which is now often referred to as “the My Pillow Guy”.

The company started with only 5 employees, however, their business was growing rapidly, and in 2017, they already had 1500 employees. My Pillow’s success was due to TV commercials, they managed to sell more than 41 million pillows.

Later, the company started manufacturing mattress toppers (check out the top-rated mattress toppers here), which is exactly what I’ll be talking about in this article.

Before we proceed, I would like to share my final thoughts with you on My Pillow topper right from the start. Based on research, there are way better options considering the price vs quality ratio, especially such topper brands like Saatva, Puffy and Layla. So take this information into account before making your decision.

In this My Pillow mattress topper review, I’ll reveal to you the benefits of mattress toppers, focus on My Pillow topper reviews, the major pros, and cons, and additional information.

Saatva Deal Active Right Now:

Verdict at a Glance

My Pillow offers a foam topper that is made of three individual layers. According to My Pillow topper reviews, it offers a medium-firm feel that is great for both medium- and heavy-weight sleepers. What is more, it manages to maintain neutral body temperature, isolates noise and motion transfer, and is quite conforming. However, My Pillow reviews revealed that it emits some off-gassing odor, is not very durable, and is too firm for light-weight sleepers. If you're looking for the highest-quality mattress topper, you should consider the top players: Saatva, Puffy and Layla

Why so many people tend to experience difficulties sleeping?

I have found in my practice that diet plays a big part in sleep difficulties, with the biggest offenders being caffeine (especially if consumed to late), alcohol (which impacts deep sleep and can increase cortisol), and too much sugar and refined carbohydrates that lead to blood sugar dysregulation.

Pros

  • Good cooling properties
  • Great motion and noise isolation
  • Amazing for medium- and heavy-weight sleepers
  • Quite responsive

Cons

  • Strong off-gassing
  • Lacks durability
  • Not good for light-weight sleepers

My Pillow Mattress Topper Reviews: Why You Need A Mattress Topper

Before moving straight into My Pillow mattress topper reviews, there are a few things that you should understand about mattress toppers.

Mattress toppers add an extra layer on top of your mattress. Different from mattress protectors, they’re usually not waterproof and are breathable. Mattress toppers can be made of various different materials, however, most commonly you’ll come across the ones that are made of foam or latex.

Mattress toppers can be highly beneficial. First of all, if you have an old mattress, however, you’re not yet ready or not willing to invest in a new one, you can simply use a mattress topper. It will provide you with additional motion isolation as well as pressure relieving properties.

My Pillow mattress topper reviews: mattress topper

Also, some mattress toppers can provide you with additional breathability that will ensure you’re not sleeping too warm. The study reveals[1] that high rebound mattress toppers can enhance deep sleep as well as maintain neutral body temperature throughout the night.

Moreover, if you find your mattress too soft or too firm, you can take advantage of the mattress topper and adjust the level of support based on your needs. While focusing on My Pillow mattress topper reviews, I will reveal which sleepers find it the most comfortable and could improve the quality of sleep. [2]

Finally, if you bought a new mattress (if not, it's recommended to check out the high-end products: Saatva, Layla and Puffy) and want to add additional protection, a mattress topper might be a good idea. As I mentioned previously in this My Pillow mattress topper review, even though toppers are not waterproof, they can still protect your mattress from dust and dirt.

Now that you know mattress toppers are worth it, let’s move to My Pillow mattress topper reviews and discuss both pros and cons.

My Pillow Mattress Topper Reviews: PROS

Let’s begin with the positive aspects of My Pillow Mattress topper reviews.

Medium-Firm Feel for the Majority of Sleepers

My Pillow mattress topper is medium-firm, which is just the right firmness for the majority of sleepers, especially, medium- and heavy-weight ones. That’s because it provides enough support, however, not too contouring, so you won’t feel like being trapped in the mattress.

According to the research on back pain, sleep quality, and bedding systems,[3] a medium-firm mattress managed to significantly reduce clinically diagnosed back, shoulder pain, spine stiffness, and improve the quality of sleep. Even if you’re not suffering from back issues, such a mattress can be highly beneficial for your sleep.

My Pillow mattress topper is 3 inches thick and is created out of three individual layers:

  • Layer 1 - support layer made out of patented foam, in a solid piece.
  • Layer 2 - transitional foam that distributes your body weight evenly and provides you with pressure relieving properties as well as amazing comfort.
  • Layer 3 - Phase Change Material is used as a cover that ensures you’re not sleeping too warm.

My Pillow Mattress topper reviews claim that it’s perfect if your mattress is too soft and you want to make it slightly firmer. However, when it comes to light-weight sleepers, the majority of them find it too firm and lack comfort.

That being said, if you find your mattress too soft, or if you’re a medium- or heavy-weight sleeper, this topper will be just the right fit.

Amazing Motion Isolation and Completely Noiseless

You probably know the feeling when you sleep with your partner and feel when he or she keeps tossing and turning throughout the night. Sometimes you might not notice it while sleeping, however, studies have shown that it can negatively affect the quality of your sleep.

When you’re encountering sleep disturbances, you’re experiencing less deep sleep, which is crucial for all the reproductive functions that are happening in our bodies, and more stage 1 sleep.

My Pillow mattress topper reviews revealed that the topper isolates the motion to a significant extent. That being said, even if your partner keeps having nightmares and interrupts your sleep, this mattress topper should solve this problem.

Another issue that many couples have is a noisy mattress. This problem is very common to beds that have springs in their construction. However, if you have a memory foam or latex mattress and use the My Pillow topper, you won’t encounter this issue.

According to My Pillow topper reviews, it’s completely noiseless and allows you to get high-quality rest. Therefore, there’s no reason to be worried about that when sleeping on My Pillow topper. Some might even say that if you have an old, squeaky mattress, this topper could help you to make this issue less significant.

Washable Cover

One of the reasons why My Pillow mattress topper is recommended by the majority of customers is the fact that it has a zippered removable cover. It means that you don’t have to be worried in case any spills or stains appear, you can easily wash and dry it, and instantly put it back on.

My Pillow mattress topper reviews: mattress topper features.

My Pillow mattress topper cover is made out of phase-changing material that ensures your body doesn’t trap too much heat and allows you to sleep cooler. On the same note, let’s move to the further section and focus more on the cooling properties of this topper.

Cooling

You may not know this, however, temperature and sleep are highly related. Sleeping too hot or too cold can lead to low quality sleep. That being said, you should make sure to keep a neutral body temperature throughout the night.

My Pillow mattress topper reviews claim that this topper has really good cooling properties, meaning that you won’t sleep too warm and will be able to enjoy high-quality sleep.

My Pillow mattress topper reviews: mattress topper cooling properties.

To tell you the truth, this was quite surprising to me because the majority of foam mattresses and toppers tend to trap heat and sleep too warm, especially if you prefer breezing temperature.

FYI: If you're looking for a breathable mattress, it's recommended to choose innerspring or hybrid beds, such as Saatva.

Responsive

We’re back to another aspect that’s crucially important to couples. That is bounciness and responsiveness.

It’s known that bounciness is something that couples are looking for in a mattress, after all, it can be highly beneficial for nighttime activities. The problem is that if you want a mattress to be responsive, it’s best to pick an option that has coils in the construction, whereas it’s known that foam mattresses are usually not bouncy.

I already told you that My Pillow mattress topper is made of foam, however, how well does it perform when it comes to bounciness? There were very few My Pillow topper complaints about the responsiveness. It seems that due to the fact it’s quite firm, you won’t be feeling as if sinking and should be quite happy about the bounciness.

My Pillow Mattress Topper Reviews: CONS

Now, let’s focus on My Pillow topper complaints.

Bad for Light Sleepers

Even though medium- and heavy-weight sleepers can highly benefit from My Pillow topper, when it comes to light sleepers, I’ve noticed some My Pillow topper complaints regarding the firmness.

The topper is the most unsuitable for light-weight stomach and side sleepers because they require more softness and conforming properties. Light sleepers find that My Pillow topper doesn’t offer a close conforming and, therefore, doesn’t offer pressure relieving properties.

My Pillow mattress topper reviews: side sleeper.

Talking particularly about side sleepers, extra cushioning is always required to hug your shoulders and hips because otherwise, you might wake up feeling stiffness in those areas.

Only lightweight back sleepers found that My Pillow topper offers quite a good amount of support, however, that’s only because back sleepers tend to choose firmer mattresses.

Some Off-Gassing

If you’re not sure what mattress off-gassing is, let me shortly explain it to you.

Mattress off-gassing happens when volatile organic compounds (VOCs) leak out of filling materials and mattress foams into the air. The odor can be very unpleasant. If you’re interested you should know that VOCs include such compounds as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), formaldehyde, toluene, benzene, trichloroethane, and perfluorocarbons.

The majority of new mattresses emit some off-gassing odor when opened, however, the amount of it is what matters. My Pillow mattress topper reviews claim that there’s a fair amount of off-gassing when opening it. It might take a few days for the odor to completely dissipate. Thus, that can be a small issue.

My Pillow mattress topper reviews: new mattress off-gassing.

If you’re looking for a mattress topper that wouldn’t emit any off-gassing odor, you should consider organic alternatives.

Not Very Durable

When purchasing a mattress or a mattress topper, you expect it to be durable and serve you at least 6 or 7 years. After all, both of these products require quite a huge investment.

As I was going through My Pillow Mattress topper reviews, I noticed that people are quite concerned about the durability. Some say that they notice a significant sagging only a few years into using it. Others noticed that the cover was wearing off faster than expected.

It’s a major issue, however, what bothers me the most is that the company on their official site claims that their mattress topper is of really high quality and offers “superior durability”. It seems that this is not the case with their product, so they could at least keep away from such claims.

This was the final aspect that I wanted to discuss in this My Pillow topper review. Now, let’s move to additional information that matters when choosing a product for your personal needs.

My Pillow Mattress Topper Pricing and Additional Details

Since you already know all the perks and quirks of My Pillow mattress topper reviews, it’s time to move to the pricing. After all, it might also influence your decision.

What are My Pillow Mattress Topper Prices?

Let’s take a look at My Pillow mattress topper pricing and size options:

  • Twin - $284,99
  • Twin XL - $284,99
  • Full - $359,99
  • Queen - $424,99
  • RV Queen - $499,99
  • King - $499,99
  • California King - $499,99

While the prices might be slightly above the average, you can take advantage of the promo code and get a 30% discount and 2 pillows. Thus, the offer is very attractive. What is more, together with a topper purchase, you get a 60-day money-back guarantee as well as a 10-year warranty.

However, it's fair to say that for such a price, you can purchase better-rated mattress toppers, such as Saatva, Puffy and Layla. These companies offer durable toppers that can increase the quality of your sleep significantly

Here is The Best Saatva Offer I Found:

Conclusions

Therefore, if you want to bring your old mattress back to life or complement your old one, a mattress topper might be a really good idea.

My Pillow offers a foam mattress topper that’s designed from three different layers. It’s medium-firm, meaning that back sleepers will benefit from this topper the most.

What is more, it offers quite good support and conforming and doesn’t trap heat, which is a common issue to foam toppers. Also, there’s no need to worry about motion transfer or noise because My Pillow mattress topper is good at isolating both noise and motion transfer.

However, there are also a few drawbacks. Some customers are concerned about the durability of My Pillow mattress topper, what is more, many noticed that there was quite a strong off-gassing. Also, it’s not recommended for very light sleepers.

All things considered, there are better options for the same and even lower prices. You should check out the Saatva, Puffy and Layla toppers. You'll be pleasantly surprised by how good these products are

Too hot - not as described

This topper is unbearably hot. I wake up every 2-3 hours drenched in sweat. I’m someone that does not enjoy being cold, but this topper is too much. Yes it’s density is comfortable, yes it fits the bed properly, yes the smell is normal and goes away if you let it air out for a day or two before you put it on the bed. But JESUS it traps heat.

Cool and comfortable

Very comfortable. Yes there is a little smell but it does seem to be going with each day that passes. It is summer here at the moment, and it has already made our bed much cooler. I think we might die in winter. Overall it has made a big difference to our very hard bed.

Very nice but hot for me

There is a lot to love about this mattress pad. It is very well made, plush and comfortable, quiet with decently priced! Unfortunately, it was just too hot for me. But I am a woman of a “certain age” so perhaps it would be fine for most people.

Not like it used to be

I purchased two of these mattresses in the past, one in 2014 and one in 2015. I love them so much that i just purchased a 3rd for a guest room bed. The one I received today is not the same plushness as the ones I purchased in the past. The one I have from 2014 is still so much loftier and more comfortable than the brand new one I just received. I am so disappointed even it still seems very well made, just not as luxurious and not as comfortable.

Not amazing

It’s ok. Working fine. But we are still going to get a new bed. Makes the bed feel like an average hotel bed. Not crazy soft or thick. It’s just a replacement for our horrible mattress until we can buy a new one.

It's not a bad topper, but I'm a side sleeper and have some hip soreness. I've been sleeping it for 3 days and it's not helping at all. Perfect for guest bed, but not for you if you need softer support.

It's ok, cheaper options work pretty much as well

Topper honestly doesn't seem all that much better. It's classier I suppose, and makes the bed look better, but I didn't feel a whole lot of improvement as far as comfort goes when I switched to this.

FAQ

What is a 'mattress topper'?

Mattress topper adds an additional layer on top of your mattress. It can be made out of many different materials, however, most commonly mattress toppers are made of memory foam or latex. It can add pressure-relieving properties to your mattress, make it firmer or softer, etc.

Does a mattress topper really help?

Yes, mattress toppers can really help. They can bring your old mattress back to life. What is more, you can use a mattress topper to adjust the firmness of your bed and make it either firmer or softer. Also, a topper adds additional protection to your mattress. Since the majority of them an easily-washable cover, you can always keep your bed clean.

How to choose the best mattress for me?

When choosing the best mattress for yourself, there are a few important factors that you should consider. First of all, what type of mattress do you need? The most traditional mattresses are memory foam, innerspring and latex, but there are other options, too. Secondly, think about how much you can spend on a mattress, but remember it doesn’t mean that the mattress is better if it’s more expensive. Furthermore, pick a size and firmness depending on your preferences. Finally, think about your sleeping position, it will also influence your decision.

How much does a good mattress cost?

Mattress price usually varies depending on a few factors, such as mattress type, size, height, quality of the material and durability. Today the price of a mattress can vary from $150 to $7000. However, you can find a good mattress for under $1000. The average pricing of a foam mattress is about $900 dollars, innerspring $950. These are the least expensive mattresses. However, if you can afford more expensive ones, you can consider a hybrid mattress for about $1,650, latex - about $2,000.

What size mattress should I get?

Most mattress providers offer 6 standard sizes, including Twin, Twin XL, Full/Double, Queen, King, and California King. A Twin mattress is great for children or young adults who live alone. A Twin XL mattress is great for children or single adults but not comfortable for couples. A Full/Double bed is excellent for children and couples, however, it won’t work if both people like to have more space. Queen mattresses work great for adults who like to sleep near each other. A King bed is amazing for couples who like to have some space or sleep with a pet. Finally, a California King mattress is amazing for tall people and couples who like to have space or sleep with their pets.

How long does a mattress last? When should you replace your mattress?

Mattress durability depends on the materials that were used to make it. The average lifespan of a mattress varies from 7 to 10 years. However, good quality mattresses can last even longer. It is recommended to replace your mattress every 8 years, but if it still feels great, there’s no need. If you want to buy a mattress that lasts longer than average, you should consider latex or memory foam mattresses. These can serve up to 10 or 15 years while Innerspring mattresses usually last about 7-8 years.
